Whats the vibes difference between the unit t100c's an the tr6's guys

Thats once ace looking tr6 John :)

It’s not a deciding factor at all IMHO. My T140 has very low vibration, it only get worrisome over 6,000rpm, which is fine by me these days as my mechanical sympathy starts to kick in then anyway.

A 500 may have lower vibration at the same revs, but then they need revving more. You’ll definitely spend more time at higher revs on a 500.

Whichever you choose, the one that’s badly balanced is the one that’s gonna vibrate irrespective of being 500, 650 or 750.

I used to race a bike that had a 500 Daytona motor as it’s base and I used to rev that to 10,000rpm. It sounded glorious.

It did blow up tho...

Was there any stand out years or changes on them or stand out models of tr6?

That might depend on if you want a Unit or Pre Unit TR6.
A stand out year is the 1957 model but with only 1691 units built they take some hunting down.

1957 Triumph TR6 Trophy notable wins.

1957 Big Bear Run (Open Class) - Bud Ekins.
1957 Catalina Grand Prix (Open Class) - Bob Sandgren.
1957 Greenhorn Enduro - Eddie Day.
1957 California State TT Championship - Ed Kretz Jr.
1957 California State Scrambles Championship - Dick Dorrestyne.
1957 AMA Scrambles National Championship - Bud Ekins.
1957 AMA National Hare and Hound Championship - Buck Smith.

This one got me on the hunt and eventually found one in the USA (Dispatched Wednesday 6th March 1957 to Triumph Corp (East Coast)

If you want to ride it, stick to unit construction, stronger, faster, better handling.

Generally speaking (as you’re talking about pre OIF) the later they are the better they got.

IMHO, go for ‘68 or later, they have the TLS front brake, which is really surprisingly good (Far superior to the later TLS fitted to the OIF bikes). And the shuttle valve forks. Again, surprisingly good.

IIRC 68 and 69 came in the stunning Triumph candy apple red colour (I’ve got a 68 T120 in this colour and it’s sex on wheels), whereas the 70s came in a rather unsexy green.

Anyone who doesn’t think these look the dogs bollox is either lying, or mentally unhinged, or both...

Antigue 59 frames ok ona the dirt too . Bettern 80s jappers anyway .

I presume you mean the unit T100C? They have their fans for sure. They’re lighter than the big twins and those motors, especially the late ones, are really strong and rev like crazy. An ex stroker fan like yourself might well gel with one.

Personally I prefer the broader power band and low end torque offered by the bigger twins. Not saying they’re ‘better’ jus’ different.
