Well just like clockwork. The Avon Cobra is at 6500 miles and it's toast.
Unfortunately it's has been the only tire I have used so far that I got decent mileage from and still handled OK. And now it has been discontinued and there are no more to be found.

Anybody tried a Heidenau K65. I have a Heidenau on the front and it has worn like iron. I guess I will find out because I ordered one. I should have it in about a week.

I have also cured the wind noise with one of these. A little taller than I wanted but I still see over it. Cheap on Amazon but reasonably well made.

Is that a clamp on or bolt on? Have a link to it?

TIA

I thought the Cobra was replaced by the Cobra Chrome, have they dropped the 19 in the change.

What’s your issue with Roadriders Jim? They do a myriad of 18 size rears.

I've used lots of them -at the rate of 2500 to 3000 miles each.

I hope to go to some more modern radials soon. Maybe I can get down to only one tire a year.

I have been getting by with two a year using the Cobras.

Three or 4 Roadriders a year was too much.

Jim, you could keep it below Mach 2 and the mileage would improve but what fun is that?

Her's one reason I like paint on frames and powder coat on the small bits.
After 40 years the rear section of my frame was looking pretty shabby. A bit of emory cloth and Scotchbrite followed by a few coats of Indestructible Paint high gloss black from a HVLP jamb gun and it looks like new again.

Are you using the actual Indestructible-brand of paint?

That stuff looks good but where do you buy that from in the US, in small quantities?

You can get it in one liter cans. You have to use their solvent also. They are proud of it.

Jim you don't seem to be taking this classic Norton restoration business very seriously!!!
Also as I take a closer look at your motorcycle it appears you have some non standard parts fitted!!!! Good god man have you no shame?:D:D:D:D

:pAbsolutely not!!!:p

And the Heidenau K65 is looking like it may be a very good choice on the rear. I put on 2190 miles over the last few days. Mostly 85 to 95 mph.

The tire has lost .090 inch near the center and still has .200 tread left. At that rate it should last at least another 4000 miles.

And the handling and traction has been excellent. The ride is a bit firmer than I am used to, but I like it.
I did back the compression damping down a couple clicks on the rear shocks.
