Tips to remove stubborn Gasket

Regarding your concern of getting old gasket debris in the engine, use cheap shaving cream to protect the open engine internals. Spray the shaving cream into any area that might get debris into it. The debris will sit on top of the shaving cream. When done, simply use a shop vacuum to suck up the shaving cream. Any left over shaving cream is harmless, as it is simply soap. FYI, I use this tip any time I need to install a thread repair insert on an engine or gearbox. I first used this idea 36 years ago to install a HeliCoil insert into a Triumph 650 spark plug hole without removing the cylinder head.
