Tinnitus Help

I'm the same 45 years so far of a 9" disc grinder on off 8-10 hrs a day
And the first 30 years or so with no hearing protection has taken its toll
Then people telling me it's riding loud motorcycles that's done it!!
I'd say it's all taken its toll !!!
I'm still in the denial phase at the moment !
Yup, the disc grinder inside 12ga. Fabrications the size of a small house.
Ugh

I started my boilermaker/welder apprenticeship in January 1976 and based on the noise always wore ear protection , ear muffs or ear plugs (the original yellow cylindrical) along with double eye protection.
I used ear plugs riding from around 1985 (after leaving them in after clay shooting one Wednesday night with no real thought to it but used them from then on)

I did a medical this past Monday and they said 18% loss one ear, 25 % the other but have to admit I don't seem to have a hearing problem overall and miss clicked (to late so didn't bother clicking) quite quite a few of the tones.
Hearing loss was inevitable. (If it is around 18% each ear that is not to bad given the job choice)

Its never to late to wear ear protection (most of the time)
To bad if it offends anyone but riding without is pretty lame and you will pay the piper eventually for what was avoidable.

Don't like generic soft ear plugs, go get custom molded ones.

I have to agree with this. I think a lot of my loss is a result of riding for years with an open face helmet.

I am envious.

I think it is the wind noise as far as motorcycles and helmets seem to differ (some quieter than others)

I have had long periods of not owning a car (the last from 2007 to 2017) so how many 1000's of hours of helmet noise for decades. ( road bike licensed since 1977)
My present helmet can not be worn without ear plugs yet am still getting around to buying a new one (for years)
Maybe that noise was part of the present hearing loss % as per the previous post.

This thread has moved a new helmet up the list, (soon)

If us guys lose much more hearing we will have to start typing with capital letters

Hey, what you say, no nothing wrong with my hearing, I don't listen to the wife so working all good for me.
