I need a throttle for my 1971 SS. In searching various suppliers I find that Norvil lists two under the original part # of 062032.
They list a 062032A (Amal type) and a 062032D (Doherty type). Anyone here know the difference. Norvil is extremely slow, lately, in answering emails.

Thanks,
Ed

I got my Dad a twinpull Amal for his 650SS last Christmas - it's bloody expensive, but it's a quality piece of kit.
Transforms the throttle pull, and does away with the junction box.

Thanks all for the replies.

Danno, thanks for the offer but I already placed an order for an eBay item. If it turns out to be junk, what do you want for your item?

Ten bucks + shipping. Let me know.

I dislike fitting Japanese parts to my Seeley, however I use a Yamaha TZ twin cable twist grip which is much quicker acting than my old Amal one. What it means is I cam wrap three fingers around the twist grip and use one or two on the brake lever. It would matter much on a road bike, but if you race it makes a difference - you can be quicker and smoother.

How does it work? A separate cable for each carb?

The TZ 250/350 throttle is basically like this one, if not interchangeable. They are by far the best throttle to work a pair of big Dellorto's, but may be overkill for a pair of Amal's, and cables would not be an off the shelf item. The original TZ throttles are getting collectable now and have gotten rather pricey, but you can still get parts for them from Yamaha (also pricey). I'm planning on using a nos Tommaselli Daytona 2C throttle I've had on hand for years for my rebuild.

I'm a bit funny about fitting Japanese bits to British bikes - they usually stick out like dog's balls. If I don't like the British bits, I always use Italian bits in preference to Japanese except when the bike itself is Japanese. That dominator with the Amal twin-pull throttle looks right because it IS right. That is what would have been used in the era.
I know I'm a silly old fart, however I know how those bikes SHOULD look. Whenever I see an old British bike which is fundamentally correct, it is a joy to my heart. It is all about values ?

@maylar - yes, a separate cable to each carb. No junction box needed - makes the throttle action feel really smooth, and it a doddle to setup.

How would one set that up for a Commando? What cables would we use? I see the twist grip for sale but without cables.

I use two TZ cables on my Seeley. Single cables are not difficult to find - nearly every MX bike uses them if you want longer ones.

Here's some parts for a Triumph Bonneville that might work for you from the Bonneville Shop, depending on what height handlebars you are using. Give him a call, he's very helpful.
I've never liked a one into two throttle cable set up, and have always ended up making new cables from scratch, even though my soldering skills are hit or miss at best, but I'm always glad I did when syncing the carbs. I wouldn't be surprised if those cables would work just fine with my Tommaselli throttle as well.
