Ethanol is indeed a solvent for the oxide layer on aluminium (which is what prevents it corroding!), and while use of E10 is not likely to cause problems in most circumstances, they cannot be discounted completely.

The main reason the corrosive/damaging effects of ethanol are played down is due to corrupt corporate and establishment bodies being far more interested in generating profits and ridiculous "green" propaganda, than taking into account the many negative effects of Efuels both to end users, and to the economy as a whole.

Carbon,

Once again, you baffle me with your ability to take a post off-topic...

While I am in no way happy about the fact that there is booze in my fuel rather than in my belly, I have a very fundamental question for you.

Could you please provide me with the source of your empirical data stating that, "The main reason the corrosive/damaging effects of ethanol are played down is due to corrupt corporate and establishment bodies being far more interested in generating profits and ridiculous "green" propaganda, than taking into account the many negative effects of Efuels both to end users, and to the economy as a whole." Please provide me with scientific data, in a PM even if you wish that indicates HOW the use of eFuels negatively impacts the economy in the US. From a geo-political standpoint, I am very interested in this data provided that it is NOT political party generated bullshit. Please tell me you are not just spouting beliefs rather than real data.

In my dumbass opinion, statements of political nonsense have no place in a forum and should be taken elsewhere.

Very much agreed. Although I have some very strong political opinions, I try to refrain from having them color my posts. I'm not saying that politics do not affect our Norton's, I'm just saying this is not the place to discuss it. Politics, that is.

All in all, this has been a tremendously good special interest forum. I think that speaks well of those who contribute. Many posts here have been truly amazing in knowledge and content. I also very much enjoy those posts that are about personal experiences, which are entertaining, to say the least. We all have been better off because of this forum. Let's keep on keepin' on.

Excuse me but in this instance I have to agree with the obnoxious el carbon, that it is corrupt Gov't and special interests have directly eaten up many boat, air craft and motorcycle tanks and engines for their personal fun and profit at our long term cost. Going beyond that, such as naming the actual people and cartels involved and motives is off topic but can be tied directly to acclerating the failure of the Golden Era of Brit Iron beyond just upper factory management and labor policy. It also directly relates to causes of inflation that make Cdo's seem so expensive to buy complete now but if plugged into inflation calculators a bad shock is in store at the bargains they really are now. BTW Al oxide is also known as sapphire a famous material to make non scratch watch lens out of. It can resist acids/electron stealers better than alkaline/ electron donor solutions. Of course that implies and means there is water pollution along with the booze added. This booze instead of food use of corn crops will directly affect the price of rice to feed the India makers of gas tank replacements so directly on this instant topic to spend more on.

Thanks but the sad part is I bet you think I'm just making it up. Sadder yet is I wish it were so.
