The 7 Literacies of Transmedia Storytelling

You'll probably know of the mini section for pedantry in Private Eye magazine.
I think it started out as 'Pedants Corner'. This was followed by many contributions of correction including Pedants' Corner and at one time was even Ped'ants Corner.
They have now settled on Pedantry Corner.

(Not meaning you're a pedant EstuaryBoy. Btw which estuary? Chelmer?)
Blackwater... Though we do have a canal link to the Chelmer too.

A couple of things spring to mind;

Mark Twain; "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead."

And from The Last Emperor; "If you cannot say what you mean, your majesty, you will never mean what you say and a gentleman should always mean what he says."

Both of which carry over to writing on forums, whether a technical discussion or general discussion.

The English language can be a precision instrument used to create things of great beauty in sympathetic hands... Conversely it can also be wielded as a blunt instrument by those with little care or knowledge.

(Pompous or what! :-) )

Yes, it's pompous but I intend to use it wherever it's applicable :)

I was a tech writer for that popular company named after a tree fruit. I think I failed English lit when in school. Big companies have editors that redline the basic errors, and writers make corrections in the master file. Things may have changed though. I left that world in 2000.

I delete a lot of posts I start here, in particular response posts. I delete them because by the time I finish, I realize I'm not really saying anything useful, just babbling.

I probably should have deleted this post.
