I've always hated the doughnut shaped fork slider seal retention nuts and the use of a strap wrench to tighten and loosen them. I hate strap wrenches. They usually have some cam action that loads the tension on the strap to apply the force, so they feel elastic when you apply force to them. That means you can't tap them with a hammer to shock the nuts loose if they are sticky... I recall someone with a mill had taken the retaining nuts and milled a hex on the top so they could use an open end wrench to drive the nut. I don't have a mill, so I went with just drilling four holes, 5mm in diameter 90 degrees apart and I bought a pin wrench on amazon that's bulletproof (from germany) On my next fork disassembly these are going in place of the mangled nuts that are in place now...

here's the wrench I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UUN5MI?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

It's hard to imagine that norton designers didn't consider a better method to turn a round nut than a strap wrench. Perhaps it was just another victory for the bean counters.... Less machine work to the part with a strap wrench

The Manx came with holes like that from the factory. Of course not metric, think it is 3/16. Molnar sells a pricey tool for them.
