I changed the clutch center bearing last night. It's actually quite hard to get a 6007 2RS bearing in a C2 class. There's a large bearing factor next door to my work, so I started there. No, don't have them in stock, no, cannot order them for me. Same story at the next 3 places I tried, so I ended up on Fleabay getting one from Germany. Postage cost as much as the bearing did!.
There's no perceptable movement that I can feel on the mainshaft, and there's no difference in the sound. Still the clonk clonk sound, though I now feel its more tinny than before.
The only things I can think of is that either the rear chain is catching on the mainshaft oil sealing ring (but why only when releasing the clutch?) or that it's the primary belt slapping against the chaincase, even though it sounds more metalic than what I would suspect.
The next thing to try is to readjust the chain & belt (possibly try setting them a touch tight?) to see if that makes a difference.
If it's not that ,then I really don't know what to try next. Visit a priest and get the evil spirit exorcised?
