Spent the day disassembling the TM34 to get to the bottom of the throttle hangup. Initial inspection of the carb internals and inside the intake manifold revealed zero evidence of Caswell breakdown or brown fiberglass goo. The inside of the carb bowl was also nice an shiny, no evidence of crud. Cleaned the inside body, slide, needle and everywhere else I could reach with Q-tips. There was some slight evidence of galling on the slide so I gently sanded the obvious spots with 600 grit sandpaper to make sure there weren't any microscopic burrs. Also did the same down the slide channels inside the carb. Gave the spring a slight stretch and disassembled the throttle cable at the grip and cleaned that all up. Buttoned her up and went on a 50 mile test run...1/2 traffic light to traffic light and then the second half an 80+ MPH blast down I-275 home. It's here at the highway offramp that the hangup would really rear its head as I traveled over the residential streets, but this time everything was perfect. I know it's most likely a matter of time before the Caswell gives up its magic and the goo will become a factor...but for now it's all systems go!
