My project bike came with sealed bearings in the steering head. They are exactly the diameter of the tube, so no way to get a drift against the inside to drive them out. Any suggestions appreciated. Puller of some kind?

Steering Head Bearing Removal

The tube is just a spacer. Although essential, it is not critical in nature.
You should be able to shift it to one side or the other by prying it away against the inner race of the bearing and use the end that you expose to drift one bearing out a little to the point where the spacer becomes loose inside. You can then punch/drift the bearings out from opposing side as the spacer should then just flop about in there.
I assume you are replacing the bearings and damaging the ones in place makes no difference?

If you do harm the space, which I doubt, they are readily available for around $16.

Thanks, Pete.v! Your explanation is better than the one in the manual.

Where're you in WY?

I'm in Fort Collins.

Yes, I am in Wyoming.... Wyoming, MI near Grand Rapids. Sorry. I have been to Fort Collins back in the 70's when I lived in Rollinsville, Co. I sure miss it.

Wow! Rollinsville. You could probably drive through the tunnel to Winter Park in those days, right? Or, over the trestles?

Well, yes, if you drove the train that went through the Moffet Tunnel east portal to Winter Park/Frazier. But there was no tunnel to drive your car through. You could hike over Rollins Pass or drive around.

Could you go through Needle Eye Tunnel?
