Hobot you should figure out a way to add an antenna to your ignition system that will Amplify the radio interference into an effective cell-phone jamming device.
 
Beng Ms Peel was first jamming cell phones and stereos in '03, especially with no R rescue plugs at a rally and Trixie inherited her Bumble Bee copper leads but so far not targeted by a drone to attack. Quarter wave length antennas are very common, our leads are about a foot long so will have to see if Trixie jams my 2m ham radio set. Do want to put some neons in the spark path though.


This is how Ms Peel's LED BTLF signals looked. I have famous Nortoneers as witnesses that won't forget the Kickapoo Joy Juice imprinting that sight/sounds.

I did enjoy your thread though Steve as I did learn something and thats what I find best about the forum.
There's obviously more to spark plugs and leads than meets the eye as why so many different types and what rule of thumb (governing factors) do manufactures of engines follow to pick a plug?
 
Hm Foxy, already got layers of tin foil and copper fabric in helmet but now ya mention it might scar the dear off before just leaping if my helmet had a couple TV like rabbit ears arcing like a Jacobs ladder. LED spot light on top and bb zip guns at ear/eye level. At some point wind can blow out the spark ion path just like our plugs

Most digital ignitions require a 5000Ohm resistor plug cap. To protect the black box from being Fritzed
 
I am running solid core wires, no resistor caps, and N7Y plugs. Minimum resistance and it works best I've tried.
I am hoping that the TriSpark brain inside metal cage is protected by Faraday effect.

Don't Trispark specify fitting resistor plug caps, as do all the other digital ignition systems I've seen/used ?
 
yes I believe so ,will recheck that after my experiment chewing on tinfoil pieces then going to sleep and waking up to hear the morning news. Best if a piece gets jammed over an old-style mercury filling I hear.
 
Can't really get my head round all this hokey pokey but !.

On my mates MK 3 Commando with a Boyer , copper core leads and iridium plugs ran crap .

Changed to Champion N3 , ran fine ? .

I understood that if your aftermarket ignition has a digital processor then you do need to fit Resistance/Suppressor plug Caps, otherwise the ignition may fail.
NGK make some nice ones @5000OHM.

The difference between supressed wires/plugs and plugcaps is beyond my Pay grade, so I simply use the NGK plug caps and non suppressed plugs.

Digital ignitions can also be intolerant of the coils used, so i would follow the manufacturers advice.

and one last thing ignition/kill switches can be faulty and intermiitantly interupt the electical power to an electronic ignition, the ignition takes longer to recover than points, so you will feel a missfire that you might not have felt with points. The way to diagnose would be to temporarly hotwire, bypassing both ignition and kill switch and see if the problems go away.
