These charge/voltage monitors usually have two wires, so (assuming positive earth/ground) for 'on with ignition' the monitor negative wire connects to any 'switched' harness negative (white) wire and the positive wire to a good ground point, or any red wire.

The Gammatronix version I use can also be connected "across the battery" to monitor battery voltage level and in this configuration it is 'always on'.
