On any older vehicle you have to $pend the money. New seals. New rubber. New gaskets New bearings and bushes.
Did you fit Kibblewhite seals to intakes , or stick with the cracky heat me up and then split and ride on the valve stems , plastic crap. ? I believe seating rings takes time , do not baby it , just do your riding style to do that seating. Most smokings are valve related.I had my head off 2 times chasing grimlins. Damn rings never seated. Hone, rerring and break in oil. Stopped the part time smoke.
Nobody wants to talk about the single most important thing. The intake valve seals.2500k miles and rings didn’t seat, I sent the head off to the best. Finally pulled cylinder and rings looked like they just came out of the box.
Now we're talk'in". Yes. Proceed.I have used these for the last 10k miles. When I pulled the head they were still supple and in place. Because it is a small expense and a large-ish PIA to pull the head insitu , I installed new ones.
