Slightly higher bars than Europeans??

What is the difference between Western and Semi-Western?

I need another long stint out with the standard bars as it suddenly dawned on me that the days before the previous ride, I'd been driving one of the vans at work that has always left me with a back twinge. I've never been able to tweak the seating to a comfortable position in that van

I would imagine longer cables and brake line....but never come across Western bars for commando unless they were for the hi rider ?

My solution. I'm 5foot 7inches and the reach to the bars was too much. I made these risers , 1 inch rise and 1 1/2 inches back. These and rear set pegs give the same riding position as my Suzuki Bandit. Plus I got a spot for an oil gauge.

I had the UK roadster bars for first few years. Though the height seemed fine for me issue was the MKII master cylinder with chunky brake light pressure switch would limit rotation position of the brake lever. Made for uncomfortable wrist bend. Tried swapping the hose and switch positions to gain a bit more rotation but still not great. I think that bend is meant for front drum brake setups without the lumpy MC. Went to Euro spec roadster bars and no more rotational limits on the MC. They are lower than UK spec. And so far I'm OK on longer rides. Might give in and try the US spec roadster bend one day. Afterall, that bar was supposedly made for long straight rides.

Cool ..all it takes sometimes is a inch or so to get comfortable 👍

Urpsoid doon ,

Slightly higher bars than Europeans??

Or visually ' drop ' the center , if ya see what I mean . Kinda a ' crash bar ' with the wider'n fork width . You have Them ' UP ' notas ' clipons ' .
Maybe a trifle wide , maybe not , touring . IF there were a selection , id go the narrower ' raise ' spacing . That bit , up , usually means the
hand area is pulled forward a few inches to most bars , if your arms are up to it . Good for climbing over the tank if your still stropping it .

AS IN , ' view shown ' would be from down beside the front axle , looking UP . fitted .

If you are leasning forward while riding your bike, the forces from the road are better absorbed than when you sit more upright. My uncle told me this about 60n years ago. He rode a rigid framed Triumph Thunder bird from Melbourne to far North Queensland in about 1950. Ape hanger handle bars are mainly about appearance - style.

I bet your uncle was walking around after that journey like John Wayne:)

The bars on my N15 are really comfortable for riding around Devon. I have put higher bars on my Commando too, leaning forward knackers my wrists.

I like the 60-1046 bars (shortened) posted by KiwiShane. To me the angle of the pullback is as or more important than the height, more like bicycle rearward angle than dirt bike bars. Bars are very subjective so what makes me happy may not work for someone else.
