Simple Question - P11 Fork Gaiters

Hi

I am just wondering how the P11 for gaiters mount at the top.

The reason for the question, in rebuilding my forks, we went with an internal spring (rather than external) - without too much thought if I am to confess. I am not wondering where the upper part mounts as there does not appear to be an obvious point on the yoke or the tubes.

Thanks and apologies for the daft question - bike in another country so working through my list by memory.

They are just held in place with wire clips. (Crude type jubilee clip).
 
Thanks - I have the clips. My issue is that the I/D of the Rubber Gaiter is much greater than the stanchion tube and I don't recall it fitting on to any particularly obvious mounting point on the base of the steering yoke (ie where to mount/tighten it down).

May be that I am missing something obvious...
 
It doesn't clamp directly to the stanchion tube, their is a short metal gaiter/cover which is held in place by the external spring that it clamps to.

Sorry if that sounds confusing, the external spring holds the metal gaiter/cover that the boot clamps to.

Thanks Mike - that is what I was hoping to hear and it makes perfect sense.
Looking through the parts book - it seems that I am missing a bit. Namely, part 021912 (Top cover tube housing), does that sound right?

The issue with the top fork cover is it is held in place by the fork external spring. You would have to find some other way to hold that shroud in place if you went to internal spring.

I don't know the part #, but it sounds right.

Just found a picture of 02-1912 on NSA Motorcycles web site, and that is not the right #. That is the aluminum housing that goes under the headlamp ears.

Parts for use with gaiters and fork gaiter clips:

028046 Cover tubes (bottom) - silver (2 off)
028051 Fork slider extensions (2 off)
