I have an old Shorai battery several years old sitting on a shelf. It was NG at the time and has not received any attention since. Its been through a few cold winters. So I decided to try the trick of jumping it to a good battery.....pos to pos and neg to neg for 10 minutes to see if it would then accept a charge. Well, it did. So I connected it to a charger and it charged up to 13 + volts. It dropped down to 10+ volts quickly indicating a bad cell but now its holding 10 volts.
The point here is if you have a dead Shorai its worth trying the above process before buying a new one. The idea is that if the battery is completely flat the charger wont recognize it and wont charge. It needs to have even a little voltage for the charger to work.
I do not know it this will work on the other types of batteries.
