I have an oil pressure gauge. When the timing cover conical seal split the pressure immediately dropped from the 45-50psi +/- to around 15 or so while riding, much lower when idling. A 5psi warning light would have caught my attention at the stop light. My reaction, however, would have been to check the oil and finding the level ok, then checking that oil was returning, which it would have been doing. So I'd have been thinking maybe everything is ok. I'm totally in the oil pressure gauge camp.

The switch Don supplies with his warning light kit is a 20psi unit, not 5psi

Depending on the oil you use....then the result will be that after a bonzai highway run(in the summer) ...when you get off the highway the light will likely be ON for as much as a half hour until the oil cools down while driving local roads at moderate speeds. It is very possible the light will never go off if you live within 10 miles of the highway.
I run 50W in the summer and have had a oil pressure gauge since 1988 and have been paying attention to it...So I have a pretty good idea what a 20 or 5 psi switch would do... :lol:

none of this obviates the utility of a warning light, with or without running a gauge in tandem.

I can't do the heavily hopped ales anymore, tastes like someone painted my tongue with glue afterwards. Now a nice full bodied lager like Okocim or Zyweic from Poland...or a 15 year old single malt and I'm in :mrgreen:

My God! It's ONLY IPAs I can drink anymore. Everything else tastes like Bud Lite. Once I went down the IPA road there was no turning back.

Amazing that a rocker shaft post got hijacked all the way to ale.
 
Yea I'm having a German Pilsener right now and I am wondering if he pulled the other shafts yet. :lol:
Ok... lets do this all together shall we...."Rocker spindles"....we need more Rocker spindles. I got a fever and the only prescription is more Rocker spindles :mrgreen:

Have not puled the exhausts yet...new shafts are due in this week and I want to put the intakes back in first..call me OCD I guess. In any event I will post pics of the shafts and whatever beverage I may have at hand if you want. :wink:
