Regarding the RGM clutch. I eventually ended up putting a plain steel plate against the pressure plate. The clutch plate stack as delivered from RGM had a friction against the pressure plate then alternating friction and steel with two steel plates at the back of the basket. If as in my case something happens that causes excessive clutch slip the friction grinds off the little bit of hard anodizing and starts chewing up the aluminum pressure plate. One of the plain plates at the rear is standard thickness and the other is thicker and gives the stack more height making the clutch lever easier to pull. I moved the standard thickness plate to the front of the stack under the pressure plate. I like how the clutch works in that configuration. A note in the installation instructions mentions arranging the stack with a plain steel against the aluminum pressure plate for longevity.
If not mentioned in this thread the TTi 5 speed eventually shipped and I installed it in the P11. Not a simple bolt on operation. Some creativity and imagineering is required to fit the gearbox in that tight space behind the engine and keep the original primary cover. It took me a few rides to get a feel for how to shift the 5-speed, in particular into neutral, but now that I have it figured out the TTi 5 speed is a huge improvement over the old AMC gearbox for me. Others may feel the AMC gearbox is the best thing ever. Chances are that person or group of persons will have no experience using a TTi gearbox. What else is new? Experts made daily on the interweb.
