Residue from Clutch Reservoir

Hi the 961 Brains Trust,

I am seeking a little advice if I may. I have a 2015 (registered in 2017) 961 Cafe Racer; only 1500 Km. When ridden I am getting a significant covering of Clutch fluid atomised onto my tank. The clutch reservoir is in as new condition, the internal diaphragm is intact and fluid level just below maximum. The reservoir cap is tight. In short, after every ride I have specks of fluid all over the top of my tank and residue around the clutch reservoir.

Will contact my dealer next week but would appreciate any feedback, especially if others have experienced the same problem.

Best regards.

Take the lids off and check to see how the seals look. Could be a lid seal. Maybe the cap if clutch is crossed threaded. Or the screws if brake side are stripped or crossed threaded.

By the way; brake fluid harms paint so wipe with water ASAP. These are brembos. Cant blame Norton on this.
I'm sure it's something super easy to solve.

Also, brake fluid absorbs moisture so keep lids off to a minimum. Jug and reservoir.

Keep us updated.

Thanks Richard, good advice.

All looks as it should be, no cracks or damage of any kind to the cap, diaphragm or reservoir; a bit of a mystery! I have been cleaning the fluid off immediately after each ride and will put some clingfilm around it until I can ascertain the cause.

I'll give the dealer a call and let you guys know the outcome.

Thanks again mate.

Hi Richard,

Dealer replaced the faulty original clutch reservoir; the diaphragm/cap was faulty - not seating correctly. I will eventually fit the Rizoma clutch/brake reservoirs.

Problem solved and loving my 961 - awesome, awesome and................ awesome!!

I had a little seepage at the seem of the lid and body too. It took some of the black paint off. Not bit deal. Just cleaned it and used some black touch up paint.

A little talc will give you an idea where it is leaking and makes it more visible.
