My 74 850 is in need of another hub..062194 is part #...ebay doesn't have many..a lot of different #'s..some look similar..not sure of the MEANNG of / VB78/...Looks like it would work...I have been fooled a few times

Presumably, you mean the drum sprocket, not "hub"?
"062194" appears to be the casting number for the rear drum cush sprocket but the actual drum sprocket part number is 062764.

Means nothing to me. Where have you seen that?

Tks, ...for the info

It was on a e bay listing for 750/ 850 drum and sprocket

Yes, I just traced the /VB78/ to an ebay seller that has other items marked with /VB78/ (below) and seems to be the seller's own code, perhaps the stock number of the bike the parts were removed from because it isn't a Norton number.

Kinda thought that after I posted..tks

Best to use a site like AN for part number information and parts identification rather than eBay !

There are Indian made copies of these rear drums around, avoid any unknown seller and also Norvil who commissioned the parts from India, probably from the same makers of the gearbox outer cover with the gear number the wrong way round.

What's meant to be wrong with the Norvil ones? I had one on for years with no problem or what I consider to be wear on the teeth.
I've now got one of Dom Pender's though with the decent cush hub

Cast Iron vs Cast steel of original, if yours is wearing well then its cast steel.

Bloomin' eck! Cast iron wouldn't be any good. I can't check as it went on fleabay but it looked as new when I swapped it for one of Doms that came with his hub.
