OK. I'm stumped. I am trying to remove the half axle from the rear brake drum. It is not budging. I need some advice before I put it in the press. I got the brake shoes and all out. The pivot points on the shoes were actually broken off and pieces of them floating about in the hub.I got a metal seal out and a nasty felt washer/seal as well, items 32 & 33 on group 20 in the IPB. Everything is covered in thick black grease, so that is not helping. So am I correct in thinking that I just need to press on the threaded end to force out the bearings and axle? Is there a threaded retainer or circlip in there some place that will cause me grief?

OK. Duh. Somehow I missed that. Part of my issue was the flat washer on top of the bearing. It was basically pressed into place and looked like part of the hub. I tried pulling on it with scribes with no luck. I used a diamond point chisel and finally got it to move a little bit but ended up drilling holes in it on either side to get a purchase on it and finally got it out. Once I scraped all the black grease out I could see the cir-clip and it came right out. The bearing came out without issue then. Whew. I just need the axle pieces as the sprocket on the brake hub is pretty worn and I plan to get a new one. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
