It vents when you crack it loose every 50 miles... lol

I was told the 50 only dominator has this cap and the domi-racer has the monza style. Who knows really, things are sometimes just said to make it feel right at the time. But who cares really.... the tank looks good with this cap.. we can vent at stop lights...

nice tank :)

re: venting the tank every 50 miles.

I assume it hasn't been run on the bike yet but what would you expect to happen after 50 or so miles?

I ask as I've had an intermittent issue with my '12 Sport for some time and the only way to cure it is to open the tank filler and then shut it again. It's not done it often enough to make me want to search for a 100% cure.

The tanks have an internal vent welded inside that leads to a brass spigot on the underside. The "Monza" cap was never approved for production (laws on protrusions from surfaces etc)

That makes sense. Running unvented would be asking for disaster, ie lean burn and possible engine destruction.

Der, if your bike is running out of fuel or running badly due to a venting issue, it would be wise to track the problem down.
Over the last few years I've witnessed 3 engines destroyed due to fuel starvation. One was done in by a partially plugged vent and the other two were caused by clogged fuel tap screens.
Hard to believe that a $30,000 Vincent engine can be destroyed by some gunk in a fuel tap, but it happened.

Thank goodness there is a vent . I see the two lines on the plastic tank . Is one a vent and the other overflow ?

Now we all know for sure. Thanks for the info Simon.

I was in Paris in June of 2014 and saw this. It was 2 weeks after getting my 2013 Sport and it ticked me off that I wasn't home riding it. It looked dirty and used, so it gave me hope.
