Following on from the posting of the "Race of the Powerbikes" film featuring the John Player Norton team, Dave Croxford has posted a follow up " Faster Than The Fairies" Featuring Dave Croxford, Peter WILLIAMS , Phil read and my hero Percy Tait the " Raving Racer"! iffy quality but great subject.

Superb ,watched that a few times now. Mind you the cameraman seems to focus a bit on riders arses, and Ago getting a rub down, strange!

Has anyone got a picture of the Norton frame that Dave Coxford crashed and wrecked, resulting in the Norton mechanicals’ making a lampstand for him with the inscription, of something like “one moth to make it, one second to break it”

Somewhere I have a photograph of Croxfords JPN, in two (major) parts, upside down behind the fence at Woodcote, Silverstone/ This was the crash that inspired the lampstand. I will have a search for it..........
cheers

Hi All just picked up on this.
I will definitely have a look at Powerbikes2.
This has brought back some wonderful memories for me. I was lucky enough to be marshalling at Woodcote in 1974 along with fellow members of the Ipswich Triangle MCC. My memories are of Dave Croxford with his 'hang dog' walk and very second-hand leathers leaving the scene of the incident. He was very lucky to be relatively unscathed as Woodcote in those days was a near flat-out right hand bend.
We bundled up the Norton in 'kit form' into the pickup van. A young lad asked us 'do you want these mister' and handed us a pair of Amal Concentrics with racing bellmouths that had been launched into the crowd over a fence which was at least 10 feet above ground level. :o
Good days.
Andy
