Queensland Government big increase traffic infringements

Yes that's the big problem is chasing them and they know the cops have to stop when things get dangerous and they get away to do it all over again if they don't kill someone first and there have been quite a few young ones killed after the driver lost it and the drive bailed out to do a runner leaving his mates for dead.
The Gov are blaming the parents but be real these kids are out of control and the poor parents are suffering as well as the kids just don't care and running a muck, lock them up when caught, well that just makes them worst when they get out, these days the young ones have no respect for no one but themselves and they have no respect when they kill their mates.
It seems these high powered luxury cars are so easy to steal, but most are being stolen with the keys when they break into your house while everyone is sleeping, but my two cattle dogs are quiet but they don't let anyone in the yard without me knowing, my dogs are outside dogs not house dogs.

Sounds like you have the best setup
You can't beat a dog or two for looking after your property!!
Cameras are only good for watching someone in a mask stealing your property
And if it's anything like the UK it's a complete waste of time phoning the police for a burglary

The cops these days are so underfunded they can’t afford to spend any time investigating anything properly. Back in August I had a situation at home when someone decided to kick over my waste bin waiting outside for the bin men. I came out of the house and gave him some grief for being an A-hole, to which he promptly came inside my gates and went to attack me. Fortunately I got my retaliation in first, but even so we then struggled a bit before he pulled himself away and ran off. I called plod and they arrived over an hour later, I also called an ambulance as I was bleeding from the back of my head. The ambulance finally arrived 4 hours later! This was despite plod also calling them to hurry up. The fellow was finally arrested and carted off to the hospital - yes, my retaliation really hurt him. After a bit of a cleanup I was declared fit for duty.

The next day I got a call from plod saying after they’d interview him they decided it was his word against mine what had happened. He’d claimed I dragged him in off the street to pummel him. F*** off, did I heck. Bear in mind he was pissed up at the time, and 28 compared to me at 66 at the time. Am I really going to do that? Now I really wish I’d managed to do him more damage. Plod did say though that “I’d done a good job on him”

Maybe they are so underfunded because there are so many of them !!
In 1960 when people used to see bobby's on the beat there were 72,000 police in the UK
In 2021 there were 160,000 so where are they?

And our population back then was how many? A damn sight less than today and probably better behaved too. Even in the early 70s when I was misbehaving there weren’t drugs on every corner, or a constant worry (?) for knife and gun crime. This world we now live in is a travesty to “when I was a lad”

Oh and I forgot to add, there was never any worry that the bird you’d pulled actually also had a dick hidden away  and falsies were extra paper hankies stuffed in the bra:)

No the police are just to busy on road traffic duties, the GOV need the money more than fighting crime and the bad guys seem to have more rights/protection than normal folks, the GOV needs to stop using the police to fill the holes in there budgets and more time to protect the people who do the right thing.

It's said over here that if you report your house is being broken into by a burglar the police will come in a few hours/days maybe
But if you phone and say you have a shotgun aimed at the burglar the police will be there in seconds !!

I had an uncle (R.I.P. Uncle Vagn) who lived in a rough area in Copenhagen. He drove a city bus and being a bachelor his ground level flat was vacant during his shift which happened to be nighttime on occasion. To deter the burglars, he had a very heavy dog chain screwed to the wall inside the entrance with the other end running down the short hallway and around the corner out of sight with no dog attached. Beside the fixed end of the chain was a huge dog dish half full of kibble and a pail of water. This set up was in plain view from the small window of the front entrance door and a good deterrent as he never had trouble.

So true and if you use to much force you get taken away as well, as for my cattle dogs they are so smart they let me know when someone is at the front gate whether they are friends or strangers by the way they react, they get so excited with friends but get down to business with strangers trying to get in and they do it without barking.

It's good to see you're not starving them Ash!;)

Well the red dog has slimmed down a bit since that pic was taken, the blue dog well she's just a guts, but they are well looked after and they earn their keep, here is a few pics of the blue dog after a hard nights work looking after the place.

I am a fan of the day-fine system used in Finland, where speeding >20kph over the limit incurs a progressive multiple of your daily income.

Queensland Government big increase traffic infringements

TOLERANCE: 10 km/h in all cases. Fixed speed cameras activate at 6 km/h and a notification is sent by mail with no consequences up to 10 km/h over the limit. Beyond 20 km/h fine is net income based with no upper limit.

Radar-jammers and detectors are strictly forbidden and may take your license with 20 day-fines.

A Swede has been issued a speeding ticket of €80 000 for driving 77 km/h an hour in a 50km/h zone.
A Nokia boss got €116 000 after being caught breaking the speed limit on his Harley with 75 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Not sure how that works if you dont have a job. But, I would hope they would truck those folks out to clean up the messes made from the deadly road crashes.

Putting anything over your number plate or speed camera plate cover is illegal here and also cop a big fine same as having a radar detector police cars have radar detector detectors to catch you just after they hit the market, the Gov has covered all grounds for avoidance, we can't win which ever way we go, its easy to just go over the speed limit but to fine you for just 1km over is a bit wrong the old days you were given a small break for a few km over but they are so desperate for money they lower it to 1km, I have no problems with being caught for being well over the speed limit as its my own fault, I don't drink and drive I have auto pilot for that (the wife she don't drink) people getting caught with phones in their hands, its so easy to set up hands free when driving so I have no problems with people being caught with them in their hands or lap, and seat belt have been in force for over 50 years now so why do people still not wear them, and if you are caught over 40km over the speed limit you lose your car or bike for 3 months as well your licence is suspended for 6 months + the big fine and cost to get your car/bike back and if you get caught 3x you lose it for ever, the same as doing burn outs or any dangerous driving we have very strict hoon laws here, but its more to do with revenue raising not for road safety.
Our biggest problems now is under aged teenagers stealing high powered cars and driving them flat out on major roads full of their mates and of course some never come back home because the inexperienced driver has killed them or killed some other innocent people who are just minding their own business or in the wrong place at the wrong time and when they get caught they just get a slap on the risk, this is where the GOV should be cracking down on and use the police for catching these young bastards, not hiding behind a tree catching most just a little over the speed limit by a few km.
My problem is the way they go about catching people and the size of the fines for just being over the limit by a few km, times are hard for everyone these days, cost of living is getting out of control, our roads are getting worst and the GOV is getting desperate for money, we pay high taxes on everything and big fines are just extra money that is for the powers that be, not for road safety, if the money was used for roads we would have the best roads in Aus or the world for that matter, but we don't, we have some of the worst roads in the world.

We have "kids" taking over intersections late at night and doing "stunts". A few get caught and their cars impounded but the rest get away. I would think a handful of roofing nails would take care of the problem. As for speed limits there are sections of I-10 in west Texas that are posted at 85 MPH and two lane roads are marked at 70 MPH.

Only problem with the nails every one gets flats, there was a case not so long ago a owner was so fed up with the hoons doing his street and did the nail trick but a lot of his neighbours got caught out with flats and he didn't drive, he got found out and went to court over it had, had a big fine and had to pay for damaged tyres, so really not a good idea, have you ever had a nail in your bike tyre.

Taking part in Nigerian Big Brother probably (Met woman officer)

No probs with seat belts and 'phones. Likewise drink / drug driving, but 1k over the limit??? Cruise control in my car can't hold better than 1k! Insane.

I agree that 1 km over is ridiculous. We have had some speeding “crackdowns” in BC almost as bad. In my opinion they are not helpful to safety as for some months after the ticket you spend far too much time micro monitoring your speedometer and thus less on the road ahead.
