One of my friends said to me 'you always have a project', and he is correct. If I race, my bike is usually something old which I have either modified or built out of parts. I usually look forward and work backwards. I have not raced since log-books became a requirement for historic racing. However I found this video very interesting. One of the requirements for historic racing is to know how to use black paint :

Until about Y2K, Australia was one the only countries where a car could be designed and tested from start to finish and brought into production. However our car companies were government subsidised versions of American car companies, and as part of austerity measures the subsidy was removed. It effectively knocked the stilts out from under engineering in Australia. It is probably one of the major reasons Australia is on the road to ruin.
In Australia we have never been good at production engineering. Most of our engineering systems were British, except for the car industry.
