Poor Gabriel

Perhaps time to look at repowering the rolling chassis with some totally different engine from a wreck of some sort.
Or part out and sell off the rolling chassis?

Something like the Britalmoto, which we’ve seen before, could be a much better idea. I don’t know what hurdles they would have encountered with mounting the engine, but if Gabriel has skills it may end up being cost comparable to a new engine from Norton; if he could get hold of one?

OK, maybe not cost comparable then!

Could do worse, those lumps run real well.
But it's gonna need a fair bit of engineering to shoehorn into a 961 frame properly.

Hmmmmmm so we start a 'what alternative engine would fit thread'?

Why not an 850 iso mounted engine from 73 to 75.
That would involve even more engineering work.
But if you go that route, why not a 750 Combat motor?
Now that would make a real mess when it grenades.:p

I wonder if this has progressed, there are crashed bikes out there I know of that could possibly donate if they have not been parted out already.

I bought two written off 961's last year....although most parts either have already gone into customer bikes, or I have them ear marked for something for me.
