Please help identify the correct pin stripe scheme for a 73 Commando 750 ( if there is one).

Nope, the only 750 Roadster with stripes is the '71-'72 black tank 'D' stripe. Oddly, I've never seen an original black '73 MkV 750 Roadster. Interstates, but not a Roadster. All the other colors are not striped. No 750 had stripes on the side covers. Here's my original paint blue '73 750 with gold w/black tank and sidecover decals. '73 Blue 850's had silver lettering, silver stripes.

73 Parts Manual 065034 lists 750 Roadster Steel Tank, Black with Gold lining as 062701/9

It had only the gold Norton and 750 Commando on the covers.
Reasonably sure it was original.

I will stand corrected on this and go with the collective.
Black w/ Gold D stripe.

Parts manuel for 850/750 from 212278 lists 750 tank as Black w/ Gold Lining, #62701/9
Parts manuel for 750 Combat lists Black w/ Gold Lining, #62701/9
Same part number...
In fact, all the Mk V tanks carry the same number as the steel Mk IV tanks, including Interstate.
 
To add more variables how are we determining the 1973 year - data plate or title ? Some were titled the year sold , not necessarily the year manufactured . I have one of those .

That's why I listed as Mk V and Mk IV...


Manuel #65034 Mk V parts manuel is combined with the 850.
Manuel #63402 is the Mk IV.

So it would seem that most info indicates that ’73 750 Roadster tanks in black had the D stripes and other color ‘73 Roadster tanks had no striping , although none of this is written in stone ? ?
 
Yes, same for the 72. The parts books only list the Black w/ Gold Lining.
Other colors do not list the 'Lining.'


Edited: I have another manuel, #101/71, that covers the 71.
All the tanks are GRP with Only the Black listing a 'Lining'.
