Upgrading the original BPF main lamp and the pilot lamp to LEDs from Dynamo Regulator Conversions in the UK.
Both new lamps are direct fit, positive earth type and seem to work great. However, the pilot lamp does not seem to make good contact and will not stay lit if I jiggle the housing in the headlight reflector.
There is only one wire to the pilot lamp holder, brown/green. How is it supposed to Earth, through the reflector shell? There is a metallic looking ring around the opening in the glass which might be it's earth contact, but I cannot get reliable flow there with my Ohm meter.spent so time brass brushing that ring, the lamp holder "cage" fingers and even pulled whole headlamp assembly apart to clean the chrome bezel and springs.
