Pilot Jet for 750 ....17 or 19

Commando mk3, I was not able to start my bike, backfires where my enemy, had to rebuild my start system 4 times, as I was unable to kick start it i was doing simultaneous start by kick and electrical but the ocasional backfiring was the enemy to the Sprague destruction.

Ignition was changed to Pazon Altair but i still had starting problems no matter the way i was doing it.

I was scared to use my bike as a backfire was not solved, I even put my bike for sale, very disappointed with the results.

I read about the 19 air jet, and though it was not important because at 3/4 of a turn the bike performance was good but that was the only thing i had not tried.

I purchased the 2x19 low speed air jets at 75€!! from Burlen fuels in the UK and fit them, at 1,5 turns open the bike stars by the Kick start, the electrical start or simultaneusly kick +EA, fantastic change!.

I kick start my bike most of the times and use ES when needed without issues.

I am not afraid to brake the Sprague due to backfiring.

The correct air jet was the final issue, I think that Burlen should have given for free the 19 low speed air jets to all the customers having a Norton commando as although the bike performs well with the 17 it breaks to pieces!!

Their mistake cost me 4 AE rebuilts!

It not negotiable a 19 was absolutely needed in my case.

I have made about 5.000 km and I will do many more next September, I'm not afraid to use my bike any more.

When a commando goes well is a great bike!

I have around 10 #17 pilots That I'll never use. Burlen should bite the bullet, scoop up all their #17 pilots, and melt them down for scrap. At $20 apiece, a table spoon of melted pilots would probably be around $500.

Well done Norcat!
For clarification. The 17/19 pilot jets are actually fuel jets. The screw is adjusting the air.
When you were at 3/4 of a turn with the 17, that means it needed less air for the smaller fuel jet.
On the 19, you need more air because you have more fuel, hence the 1 1/2 turns.
Hope this helps.
