That's more Norton 961's then I have ever seen at the same time . Good one !
T‘was a great day out. We have tried to beat the ’bakers dozen’ achieved that day but could only manage 11 at ‘Caffeine and Machine’ meet back in July this year.

My second ride this year , this time to Deal in Kent , can’t beat a seaside town to ride to,& of course the Norton is never too far from a cafe or bakery, going for the retro,classic, urban , has been ,old git sought of biker look these days , copied the jacket from Stuart 2015 & the 100% white silk “ Aviator “ scarf ( in hand ) from Clive & cream polo neck wool jumper from a German U boat captain of an old WW2 movie i saw over Xmas

I know this isn’t a 961, but I’m desperate for help in finding more info on this sign. Does anyone have any info or where I can find more info? I’d like to get one or have one made.

So, a few changes in my 6 or so weeks of ownership. New bar end mirrors were a week or two ago. I couldn't stand the stains on the decat pipe under the bike, so today the exhaust was removed, polished and refitted. Old breather was a pretty ugly square brass thing - so a trip to Pirtek saw me walk out with this breather for the princely sum of $12.50.

Fitted a genuine coil a few weeks ago also and new plugs. Nothing wrong, just done as prevention after reading many posts on here. Have a temp sensor and a cam sensor on their way for much the same reason.

Have had a set of throttle bodies arrive (the ones many will have seen on ebay) and the next minor project is blocking the balance pipe and installing those. Still hunting a pillion seat. Also have gaskets for the side covers and am intending on having them repolished.

Overall I've loved the bike.

Was your old trans/primary breather home made ? The new one you have now looks like what Norton was installing on the later bikes.

@TonyA - I couldn't say for sure it's origin; I'd describe it as perhaps a tad agricultural.

The hose didn't fit that well, the zip tie wasn't up the the task of making it seal, the hose was somewhat discolored and less than aesthetically pleasing..........I could go on

For my 80th birthday today I decided I needed to do a birthday ride on the 961. This is the trusty steed in my driveway anxiously awaiting it's master.

From there I rode 26 miles to the local town of Santa Paula to meet with a couple friends, Craig on his 1290 Super Duke and Eric on his MZ Skkorpion 660 single. We do have an eclectic mix of bikes. It's a nice ride through Grimes Canyon, a local tight twisties road.

From there we rode over Hwy 150, another really fun ride with lots of variety of turns, to the town of Ojai for lunch. From there we continued over 150 to the ocean near the town of Carpinteria, and spent a few minutes checking out the surfers. Then it was time for the return trip, retracing the same route and ending up at home after. We made a brief stop near Lake Casitas just for a photo op.

The total mileage for the trip was 126 miles, about right for this octogenarian.
