Pictures of the valves...Look normal?

I wouldn't worry about how the face of the valve looked, but if you are worried I would remove the valves and see what kind of play there is in the valve guides and also how the seats are. Ideally the valves should not sit too low in the seat. It is impossible to make much of a judgement call based on the photos.

In fact in the photo it looks like the inlet valve on the left cylinder might be sitting lower in the seat than the right.

hmmmm...I see it too now. Good eye.
Maybe monday I'll bring it in to the machine shop....See what he thinks...
A quick refresh may be in order..

The combustion chambers look normal enough, but, as mentioned above the real action is the seat, the guide/valve clearance, the seal and the spring(s).

You didn't say how many miles/years on this head. If this is an original head as in a 34+ year old virgin, with no service, get out the KY and bend over

Great opportunity to update with new materials...

With the panic a few years ago about classic cars and bikes having to run on unleaded fuel, there are now quite a few places that can do valve seat replacements at reasonable cost - Norvil sells them as a seperate part in their catalogue; exhaust seat 050110, inlet seat 050150. I just replaced a set of valve guides myself using the oven this weekend while the missus was out. I hope the roast beef doesn't taste of Norton or I'm busted!

It's 10,867miles, not sure if it's got the orig. parts in it or not....
What 'modern' bits can be put in it now as upgrades?

Thanks!

Nidyanazo, I'd be inclined to keep it standard, the parts are readily available and very cheap if you compare them to any modern bike. Get an opinion from a good machine shop regarding what needs to be done - if anything - certainly don't go on the advice of someone thousands of miles away looking at a rather small small photo. You will however have to dismantle the valve gear to be able to assess the situation accurately.

Well the head is at the machine shop, looks like it's had a valve job before.
Time for another one.
Was told the old valves are worn down quite thin, and so I ordered up a set of new intake and exhaust black diamond valves.
Will be pretty happy when I can get back on the road!
