Peel's potential power peak?

Yep sir, Ashley, LAH, life Ain't Fair and then we die. I finally last year got my long time pain free swivel neck's deeper brain stem scar tissue cleared to control liver, so found out I could tolerate wine immediately after Westly wife called "Weslty died", full glasses of cheapest box wine I can find. I'm wine trained by hi end waitresses at fancy places before getting laid and wine snob tested to as fine a sense of differences as they have but I don't drink for flavor just by myself to numb out. Biology trumps philosophy every time and many good deeds break our hearts. Prior to regrowing neck a sip of too strong beer onset severe hangover head or '83
ultralight air plane crash feet shattering flair up to crippled - till flushed out.

Ashley your enduring successes with a fragile funky Commando has helped sustain me as many others in public or private contact.

Back on point Peel needs nearly 160 hp intervals to do what I want but know that's only possible for short intervals d/t heat flow pile up. Long hi speed events would need another water tank spraying on external head.

Brooking 850 I'm recently trying to tease Guy Martin for interest/support to be the first to do a barrel roll and ride off. Peel was almost sold off for a real sports bike til 2-1 experiment + 12 ga slug flaired end plate of a Dunstall long dong megaphone opening - pissed me off on 1st throttle snap thinking I was too old to react in time not to end up past seat lip on tail light then 2nd time depressed as too old infirm weak used up has been - even hunkered down Hard - planted dragster like as past P!! experienced required > to still end up beyond seat lip, til 3rd time easy feathering on for a face splitting grin as more than enough to tease wheelie prone elite sports bikes into losing drags contests into funneled down entry to sharp narrow turn series they always lost till over 100 mph could out hp Peel. Not no Mo!

Intend to spike Peel's "St. Bernard" spiked dog collar mounted canteen/flour canister flask with moonshine and 10% nitromethane to leave flaming trails-into-sunset. Peel boosted potential implies up to ~17:1 dynamic/effective CR so more reason to inject CH3NO2.
Broken link removed
Snow says it will put out 30-50 extra horsepower without tuning. Well they are not lying. I mixed a batch just as they recommended and poured it into my injection tank. Took about three pulls and the motor got alot stronger above 3500.

I go through 2 quarts of meth/nitro mix every three weeks, lot of daily driving, some racing. If the dyno backs up my g-meter I think this is a pretty cheap horsepower route. Especially considering the usage rate.

For some people that have asked about it so far, here is what we have documented. We are running a mix of ~98% methanol and ~2% nitro. Just from early testing, no #'s will be posted until final testing is over.

1. The car will not respond to it unless static compression reaches at least 12.5:1. Optimal is around 14:1, which works out fine since their is no need for it at low boost.

So an 8.5 CR motor needs to run about 9-10 psi before optimal complete combustion of nitro is achieved, not that its needed at that boost level anyhow.

2. We have been able to add tons of timing due to nitro being Extremely slow burning. As much as 10 degs more at same boost level, then just meth.

3. The hp #'s over using just meth alone are ~12% over, but the torque #'s jump up quite impressively. As much as 19%. Keep in mind..this is only a ~2% mix.
Peel's potential power peak?

4. The fuel system has to be setup seriously, when nitro is sprayed the car goes quite lean...as much as from (11.5 off to 13.5 on) even with meth as a counter.

Yep sir - they are my holey icons to die for! I lost my religion, then belief in karma or afterlife, for we only get what can now like the predator global banksters, which Brit Iron email list dropped the Irish racers paraphrase of above hammer on me-
We ain't here a long time just for a good time.

Expensive association with founders/disciples of current science advances from Europe/Russia, allows testing age of various tissue turn over rejuvenation replacement, to monitor Star Trek like electromagnetic and metabolic therapies the rich and famous resort to as illegal for US/DC numbered PERSONS - shows I'm long ago only a teenager but for old fart brain, only the strongest fittest neurons survived the involuntary but - successful suicides.

I'm decades satiated off purified white agricultural powders and LSD or blessed 'shrooms as Peel was also able to thrust me out of body ahead of time, similar to my hydro planes in narrow sided Fla. canals catching a plane on rear of hull then strong wrist pull as prop bite thrusts hull out of water on just the plate above prop, then eye lids back as only lower prop down force lifting thrusting whole mass ahead so much jumps out of water to land back on tail to feel instant jerk back up on plate then eyelid peeler prop riding roostertailing cycling as wave crest impacts yards apart felt like sitting on redlined solid mount Norton. To point felt projected out ahead in slow motion wittnessing stuff too fast to consciously react to so stunned at times by stupid jerk reflex steering upsets on mirror smooth surface to see a bit of smerged log or hog carcass flash by that would ripped us apart but missed plenty of inches to spare into future focus missing bridge pilings bottle neck as consciously aimed for just prior so reason rational part raised toe hairs at solid object targeted w/o reflex jerk again rather faster than brain processing delay. Similar to fast music wizards.

Stupid dangerous on flip prone boats can't predict wave/wind/wake combos so resorting to Peel to get similar G forces as soar plane or WWII fighters forcing brain blood peeling over into strafing run or over taken enemy - oblivious to Combat power limits warnings...

That quote's for those with time to think - ignorant or not of vital factiods, manics often have enough no choice berzerk reflex luck out events to get addicted to so polish it up for more planned kix. No one like that gets respect on this forum.

Only real dyno facts are drag times with known mass. Requires power and ability to apply it. To get better results should lower the whole bike but especially in front w/o allowing chance of bottoming/hydro lock up or a pebble can bounce fork into walls.

I want a video of Peel nailing throttle to float front level at same time air compresses fork so look like she just lift front tire 4" to leap ahead. Online calculators imply over 100 trq before isolation rpm which on past Peel was ~1800 then becomes unbelievable so hope in line thrust isolastics power hits dampening may allow hooking up to break into 9's 1/4 m. My P!! could float 2" level on just skilled roll on power not to just smoke street tire. Its best was mid 10's sec so Peel only needs 1 sec over 1968 technology.

I've been off the forum for a while now as my elderly mother passed away and have been dealing with all that entails, so I've forgotten what carbs your using? Are you still going with the lectron or lake was it Steve

Expected and unexpect event so often gets in life's way. I've been off forum about a year too for similar reasons and just lately getting back here with thoughts of Commandos.

Plan is try to get Lake 'Injector' to work as intended on Drouin but may not like the blower for ordinary use so thinking a 38mm Lectron on a stalk would work but may end up having to use it instead of the Lake. Lake and Lectron needles for this size intake are essentially the same but either may require accurate measure of fuel flow at various throttle opening by shifting needle to suit, then file down needle to match that flow once needle set back for good starts and idle on un altered section. On look out for flow meter that can handle mililiter trickle to some liters/min.
Otherwise a stop watch and measure cup old school.

Sorry to here of your woes my friend, we missed you very much. I would love to see more pictures of where Mrs Peel is at now. I've sort of been in the same spac, have a small amount of work to do to get my 850 back on the road but as I've lost my work space I haven't done it. Think I will move her into my house for a short while to get it done. Any way press on with it. That was very nice of Rocky Point to offer help, I have bought lots of things from him and always happy. Keep us posted, Cheers.

Better new year to you too gtsun. Accidentally stumbled on a Combat shopping for a mower to alter my life focus since '99. It's needy-ness sent me world wide to vendors & builders enough they'd recognize on phone for "oh hi easy money". Got to hobnob with other's sharing our up's/downs and work arounds. No one left around here interested in obsolete British cycles and many vendors/builders now departed. Replacing roofs, 6 vehicles lost, blown up saws, mowers, major appliances and severe injuries cut my reserves of time/money/mood for hobby relief.

Commando world changed from modifying Norton numbered parts to new fangled substitutes that may be dead ends too after a spell. I bought Trixie Combat on last trip with Dale, just prior to above set backs to ride with him on SV650 to help heal our conflicted relation but innate Norton faults and deer strike killed that plan. Trixie just needs barrel/head put back on but 5 attempts failed from pistons on wrong side, broken ring, lost circlip, emergency call - til last try wife failed to attach a zip tie so barrel swung over hit floor breaking bore bottom.

If i survive Mz Peel has potential to put vintage type road legal Commando name in news again - against modern racers & stunters. Not up to speed on poopoobucket alternatives but with a little help from friends ...

Awsome chap... remember seeing pics in the UK motorcycle press ... was it a blown V8 chevy ? couldnt tell from the photos everything concealed by smoke of burning rubber

Hobot,
you mention an oil temp gauge.. you can get then from Smiths still, capillary type

YEAH MAN!!! Do or Die for the HIgh! Rational mind must be ignored so 'ignorance' term implications not lost on hobot.

Hi rpm skilled clutch release drag launch is a different sort of adrenaline spike than dicing turns even though similar levels pumping, Its got more suspense time to build up a spike release
ESPECIALLY if configured for sprints.

Back on subject, power peak character, how would a Peel launch best be done? On lesser hp/wt ratio cycles must rev to about torque peak to drop load on or engine bogs too much but also the most risky way to just spin out of flip over. dashik.

hehe not one but 2 past Ozark 750 era chopper dudes with extensive/expensive engine work said they took on all comers by clutch drops in 4th while snapping WOT. Both got so cocky, they got tempted showing off on THE Gravel for total losses - similar to me.

Peel trick after sucking front down, might be finding rpm for clutch dump point and gear to just quickly add throttle in hopes the increasing torque would match increasing hook up with speed and hang on through hp peak near end.

Peel has taps for mechanical gauge PSI and digital sender in head oil feed - after fine bypass filter hung under rear butt gusset. Don't yet have -3 AN fittings/hose adapted to banjo head bolt nor the gauge or sender. Nice tiddy sender for decent data logger costs $150+. Oil temperature going into head and exiting engine will be more informative to monitor. CHT and EGT even more vital.

I think it had either 2 4-barrel carbs or Corvette fuel Injection. This one looks like FI, but earlier pics show dual carbs with no air filter.

Peel's potential power peak?

ok the smiths gauge I have gives oil temp in bulk ie in the tank. Its been fitted virtually from new ie 1972. The most surprising thing is how long it takes oil to come up to working temperature ie circa 70 -80 centigrade . Around 15 miles of brisk riding in heavy London Traffic.Worth thinking about if you want max power cos you wont get it with cold oil. And of course it gives instant reasurance all is well when tanking down the motorway, but presumably your interest is the drag strip. I used to have an engine temperature not oil temp gauge. it had a sender unit connected electrically to the gauge head. Of American manufacture , the sender simply being bolted onto metal , not tapped into an oilway. Will pm you if any of it survives
