My Lambretta riding friend is very price concious. Always gets the cheapest parts. Always spends hours having to fettle them to fit, then they stop working pretty soon. And so the cycle repeats.
After Innocenti folded in Italy, the main manufacture took place in India by SIL among others. SIL stuff was rough but mostly serviceable.
This spawned a whole raft of back street bodgers, being India back in the 70's. The legacy of which is tons of not FFP rubbish floating about, driven now by people who have no idea how much stuff costs to make, the whole economies of buying and selling, so they constantly winge about costs and quality but repeat the actions which caused the dissatisfaction in the first place.
Norton seems to only have a small amount of crap intended to part the unwary from their cash. And much really good stuff. Better designed from better materials and using much better production techniques. Not always cheap, but almost always much better value.
When those people stop, those and others mentioned above, with pretty much all of the NOS gone, most parts will be made as one offs - or not at all.
