I've just been looking through a heap of old notes, sketches and junk and found that the original head steady link was put into service roughly 21 years ago. It isn't showing any signs of wear and will have worked for over 60K.
I also found a forgotten sketch to make a pair of stainless Amal pilot jets to resist the dreaded ethanol corrosion. What I did do was to fit drains to the float bowls. Perhaps that is why I never did make a pair, I wonder if would have worked?
