On my earlier posting I received several good suggestions. I erred by posting a new question on the same page. Being new to the web-site I'm not sure whether to start this new question here, or to have posted it to the last, where all the responces arrived. One of the two has to work, live and learn. Thanks

Don't worry too much. You can usually keep a tread going for a while as long as the topic is related. Or sometimes it just gets too long. Just wait until your thread gets hijack by some jerk sneaking politics into a bike forum. I tell you...

Welcome to the forum norton1973,

There aren't many rules here (as we Commando owners do seem to be a fairly well-behaved bunch of people -most of the time) so don't worry too much about doing the wrong thing. :)

As moderator, if I consider that a member has posted in the wrong section, then I will simply move the topic to the correct section, but that's all, you won't get into any trouble. If a new post is on topic, then please continue to post in the relevant 'Norton Commando' section. If the topic of your new question is somehow related to your original thread, then it is often better to continue adding to the original, rather than starting a new thread.

There are no limits to the number of topics you can start (within reason, obviously) or on the amount of replies you receive, and some threads can continue over several pages.
