If you fall into this category, PLEASE do not leave your family with a collection that is only worth pennies on the dollar.

I've been taking the time for "just in case" to prepare for my family to be able to inherit whatever bikes and stuff that I have left when I pass, with full info...

-Inventory of each bike with year, make, model, color, general description of condition, specific list of issues (if any), and current probable minimum value. Inventory document also has a clear photo of each bike.

-TITLE!!!! Or registration, Bill of Sale, or other legal paperwork determining ownership. All of the above are kept in a fireproof safe.

-Instructions to post the Norton Commandos For Sale here on this forum FIRST, then a few other options.

-List of parts inventory with probable minimum value.

-List of tools and specialty equipment.

I suppose the same applies for any old single guys, too; leave the info with whoever will execute your Last Will. (You DO have one, right?)...

Like minds Paul I've just started on this. Amazed at how little information I have on some projects! Mind you some come with a complete file! It's the quantity of parts that are the problem lol

Yeah, for parts I'm lumping "like with like" in tubs, and labeling them "carbs" or "Triumph", or "electrical", etc.

I don't have a garage full of motorcycles anymore, but I do have a garage full of stuff. Wife is not happy about my collection of tools, toys, and engine parts and reminds me frequently that she is just going to have it all hauled off even if she has to pay for it.

I have thought about doing exactly what you are talking about, but I'm still functional so keep putting it off. 74 in a couple of weeks. When I fall over kick starting the Norton, I'll get busy on that list.

Good advice

At 74, I better be long done with my pre-croak list of chores!
