Getting a new/old bike, need shipping help

I'm leaning against the fly and ride. Traversing the mid west in the dead of summer is not that best idea. Plus not finding time in my schedule (let's be real, in the kids' schedules) to pull off 9 or so days. Someone suggested changing the uShip to specifying my price and that seems to be a little better. No quotes but a couple possibles.

It took a couple days for me to get a hit, after I listed my price.

If it were me thirty or so years ago, then Katy bar the door, I'd hop a flight and jump on the critter and commence to riding, but it ain't thirty years ago.
That's a good looking bike. Anyway someone is going to be wanting to finish out a load going your way eventually and take your offer.

What happened with this.
Did it get shipped?

Not yet. So far uShip has been a dud. Going to try again with the auction type as the fixed bid was useless.

So far the best quote I’ve gotten from any source was Haulbikes at $699. Which if no one comes up with anything better on Monday I’ll probably take. As long as they can deliver before the end of the month.

I used Haul Bikes (haulbikes.com) last summer to transport a Norton (in my profile pic) that I bought on ebay. From North Carolina to northern California was $800. I was completely satisfied with their performance, it took about 3 weeks to get here. There is no preparation of the bike, they just roll it on the truck as-is.

I was extremely transparent with the buyer of my 850-T. He had to have that model and for some reason my bike. I believe he paid as much for shipping as he did for the bike. I gave him multiple opportunities to back out, full refund. I sure hope he’s happy when he gets it.

I'll bet there's going to be one big wedding party.....When your buttocks marry the saddle on that bike. Sending out invitations or pics?

You mean when I get reunited with the bike? Having ridden it to Barber several times I can attest to the firmness of the seat and the pain in my buttocks, if that’s what you mean. :D

Come On Dave, you can use this for an Iron Butt event. I vote that you jump a greyhound bus, sleep a ton then hit the road runnin' on that BEAUTIFUL Interstate. :o)

Yeah....My Roadster seat is rather firm also. Once upon a time I could sit my Norton for 200-250 mi. a day while now I do good at 20-25. Anyway hope things come together soon on your new bike.

I did contemplate doing that. But it’s hot and I’m a wimp.

I've shipped a few bikes with this guy. he uses a web clearing house service but if you contact him direct he can usually ship for 30%+/- less:
Advanced Service 4 U. Vernon Gantt, advancedservice4u@gmail.com 984-222-4721, One man operation. has a sprinter van and a trailer that holds 6 bikes. Colo to Long Island was around $500 2 years ago & that was through the website. I only have his business card, cannot remember the name of the shipping service

Ok, after much trying the shipping is scheduled. I went through uShip in the end. Sure it cost me a little bit more than I hoped ($800) the good news is that the bike gets picked up tomorrow and I'll have it next Thursday.

In the meantime I'll keep working on the other bike.

Glad to hear you've got it coming.

Mine is demanding some attention right now for some obscure reason. Guess it must feel neglected or something. Makes me wish I'd finish up my wing where I'd have a spare again....It does this when I start thinking about that to prevent competition I guess.

Fresh off the trailer. Took a couple kicks but it started.

Currently sitting at the DMV. I don’t really mind, the AC is cool. Wiped the bike down. It’s got one heck of a patina.

I’ll start another thread (I know, shocking) chronicling the updates. There’s going to be a hefty Andover order going in soon.
