1970 S 750 with recently rebuilt gearbox has oil leaking when warm from what appears to be the seal i replaced behind the sprocket when i had the box out. Oil is pooling directly below the sprocket. If this is the case am i able to replace the seal from the left hand side by removing the primary drive and inner cover.Any forseeeable problems?

update on leak, I found where the oil is coming from , it is coming out of a hole on the front of the oil tank, spurting into the air cleaner and dripping down onto the top of the gearbox then finding its way to the ground from there, The oil level is reading H when hot, is it just a case of too much oil or is there a problem? I have tried to put a picture of the hole on here,

I'm leaning towards the oil level being a little high. The oil return looks like it should and if the oil is ending up in your filter, it sounds like it's doing its job.

When the engine is hot, I think your oil level should be slightly south of full. You're probably just a wee bit over capacity. Bet it quits if you lower it.

Make sure you know the drill. If there is oil visible in the tank start the bike and let it idle for 5-10 minutes observing the oil returning to the tank. This will empty the sump of oil (the oil level will rise). Turn off the motor and check the level. This level should never be above the "H" and I prefer to keep it midway between "H" and "L".

If there is no oil visible in the tank, drain the sump via the drain plug and refill the tank to midway between "H" and "L" and recheck as above.

Overfilling will cause oil to be forced out of the tank breather into the air filter box.
