A-B is taking a hit.
Maybe some of this wokeshyt that is being foisted on us by other companies will now slack off.
At least, we can hope so.

Slick
You can bet corporate boards and CEO's are taking note.
Stockholders tend to take their money and run when an asinine ad campaign appealing to 6/10's of .01 percent of their market share costs billions in corporate earnings.
They pissed in their own chili, bouncing back is going to take a long time.
The sad part is all the people working for AB are going to be the ones to get hurt by this corporate stupidity.

Serious question.

Budweiser, American company, 147 years of history and everything that represents.

Do you guys want them to recover and stay in business?

Their beer, with few exceptions is pi$$water. American company? Not anymore...part of Inbev. I will not support their poor marketing decisions with my hard earned dollars. I'll spend my money with local craft brewers or start making my own again.

First off I'm not a Budweiser fan. I do know someone who makes a darn good living working for them and there are probably tens of thousands of U.S. citizens that earn a living from A.B. As I see it Bud wasn't promoting a lifestyle as much as they were using this Mulvaney person to promote Bud products to her flowers. I and most of us had never herd of this person before and most likely wouldn't have had it not been for Kid Rock making that video and other entertainers becoming aware because of the video and jumping on the band wagon.

Bud Light, not Budweiser.

Can't agree with your observations...the R&Roller video was a response to an already made mistake gaining huge momentum that most of the beer drinking market was already well aware of.
AB marketing execs could and should have anticipated such a reaction based on their knowledge of the market to which they sell.
Its not that complicated.

Any experienced marketing executive would have seen the potential for this face plant, the top execs f#$#ed up in a big way allowing the promotion to move forward, they put the woke kiddies in charge of managing the Golden Goose of their company and now its biting them in the a$$ aka stock value.

A few exec heads will roll but the working guy via layoffs etc will pay the real price.

Bud Light’s disastrous decision to partner with a man pretending to be a woman has seen a loss in sales now down to 26%
Reporting 2 days ago saw 21% reduction in sales
It seems its gathering momentum.
I just hope their staff jump ship before its too late for them.
[edit] Just saw another report today stating 29%....tbc

Seems that Bud Light spend a massive amount on advertising - more than most other like companies.

Looks like they get it wrong sometimes - trying to be edgy and contemporary perhaps?

To an outsider the latest seems to be another essentially commercial decision - looking for commercial advantage by broadening its appeal - gone badly wrong.

I guess all ad campaigns have risk involved, which was no doubt factored in by the advertising execs; principle to what they do for a living. But maybe they didn’t factor in the momentum that opposition would gain from the Kid Rock vid and other celebs doing what they so often do, look to boost their own media profile.

Is kid Rock using (fake?) outrage to promote himself and his business interests? Watch him slowly turn at the start of this vid to advertise through the rear of his top. Has he hi-jacked the situation for his commercial advantage and at the same time, looking to stay relevant. Wonder if it would have been no more than just another poor marketing bump in the road without this eventuality.

So maybe less a PC move by Bud and more a commercial advertising campaign gone badly wrong. The victims - workers that may well lose their jobs - an already marginalised LGBT community, the majority of which probably don’t relate to Mulvaney at all.

A future headline maybe ”how an ageing rock star brought down Americas biggest beer‘

Conjecture, yes - but the truth is generally ‘somewhere in between’ and so rarely at the point of maximum outrage. My observations only.

I expect they will recover and stay in business.

I do want them to take a further 20% drop in sales, just to reinforce the notion that
In their zeal to include a fraction of 1% of the population they have offended the remaining 99+%.

I want advocates of woke philosophy to "wake up" and see that forcing their views upon the masses is offensive to the many. We do not want those who identify as women in women's restrooms, in women's sports, or women's prisons.

The deeper and more prolonged this boycott of A-B, the more tempered will be the woke activists. That's what I want.

My Perspective 👀
With the recent results from polling 54% of American's support of the boycott of Bud Light so kid rock ain't alone.
So who really promoted the boycott ?

The way I look at this storm in a tea cup the divisive ? or poor media advertising has worked quite well !!

Its divided the nation once again over fricken beer.. and its being continually perpetrated by the media...👀

I agree you you TexasSlick.. Lineslinger & Stephen...☝there ain't no winners here...just more chaos...Unity is what the media are guilty of NOT promoting ...🍻

Agreed Slick - partly!

The 1% you mention; I think Bud were seeking to ‘include‘ to their customer base as opposed to them being ‘inclusive’. Big business - hard nosed commercial decisions, rarely flights of fancy. They just didn’t read the room, at all!

Your 99% of people offended might be significantly overblown though. If I had to guess, the majority wouldn’t give a toss if the packaging on Bud Light changed, whether they drink it or not. Very many did care of course - hence tanking sales. Below is my favourite beer - could’nt care less what rainbow packaging it came in this month.

‘Woke culture’ is difficult to grasp and for some I guess even more difficult to stomach. As I see it, thats mainly because it is not easily understood; what does ‘Being socially aware and empathetic” mean? Different things to different people. What are the rules? It requires perception and is usually going to depend on how you view a given situation. It also seems to be an all or nothing proposition, you either are, or you’re not. Hence lots of conflict.

Common sense works for most I guess, with a dollop of ‘treat others as you would like to be treated yourself’. Where it gets really sticky for me is when politicians attempt to legislate change! Personal pronouns? I err towards the views of Jordon Peterson!

I agree that just because 99% are not a part of a specific minority does not automatically mean they are offended by them / it.

And I think your question is super relevant:
what does ‘Being socially aware and empathetic” mean?
But I think it’s relevant for a different reason. It is usually asked in an ‘woke’ context it in terms of asking how this affects the majority regarding their views on the woke minority who feel victimised. And that is a fair question.

But, more and more, the question applies in the opposite way. The minorities themselves are often NOT displaying empathy, respect, etc in their attitude to the majority. And it is THIS that causes a backlash.

I firmly believe that the VAST majority of that 99% couldn’t give a flying f*ck what any one individual does. BUT when those minority individuals start imposing their thinking on others, when they start saying things like ‘if you’re not an ally, you’re an enemy’ etc, then folk are gonna push back. I really don’t think it’s rocket science.

Interesting fact: in my local biker meet there’s a person who’s fairy regular there, he’s ex military and lifelong biker who decided to become a she. And you know what, although most people are surprised when they hear the story for the first time, no one gives a f”ck, he / she has NEVER had any aggro that I’m aware of.

Why? Because he / she quietly goes about their business in their own way, not forcing their opinions on others.

All we gotta do, as we always have, is learn to ‘live and let live’ and stop imposing on others.

And yes, I couldn’t agree more about erring on the side of Jordan Petersons views. Anyone who hasn’t read his book ‘12 rules for life’ should do so.
