Well three 961's showed up. I was expecting more. Richard and his dad (Dave) rode in from Canada. We took the 961's up for a sunrise photo on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Great view,
Beautiful scenery, beautiful machinery :D

Regards, all.

Quality boys!

I bet three of those with the shorty pipes sound wonderful on full song :D

So, did you guy blackout the N's and side covers on your bikes?

I thought it would look good to black out the N on the primary, and the Norton on the cam cover. I thought it would make the bike unique. When I arrived in Asheville, Richard and Dave had done the same to their 961's. I guess great minds think alike LOL

+1

A black accent to lettering on the engine covers is a vintage Norton touch.
Very nice indeed.

Oh nooooo. That's terrible news. Such an awesome ride too. I wish your dad a speedy recovery first, and the bike second.

Give your Dad my best wishes. I hate to see his bike on the ground like that.

That sucks.
Did it happen on your way back from the Rally?
I've ended up in a roadside ditch a few times from drivers not watching what they were doing.

Best wishes to your Dad.

Regards.

This happened on the way back from some sunrise pictures on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Richard, Dave (Richard's Dad) and myself were coming back to the campground.

I was leading the pack. We went into a blind curve, and around the obstruction of the curve, the radius of the corner decreased. Richard and I were set up on the curve to the inside. We were able to adjust and make the corner. I think Dave was set up on the outside of the curve, and when the curve radius decreased, Dave had no road to use to handle the sharper curve. The bike is not in too bad of shape. Dave was laid out on the road, but was cracking jokes and laughing at his situation.

The worse part was drivers approaching this blind curve, and could not see us in the road. We had to send a driver who had stopped, up the road to slow traffic down. This situation came much closer to taking all three of us out, instead of just Dave

Still was a great ride, and as Richard said above, the sound of all three of the 961's with shorty pipes going through the tunnels was magical

Oh no!! What a bummer, I wish your Dad well Richard and hope the Norton is not to damaged

All the very best

I wouldn't put it past your dad to fix the bike and ride home busted up. Still my hero. Hope your not in too much pain, Mr. Coote. Blue Ridge Pkwy., one of the most scenic and twisty roads in the country. Isn't the speed limit 35MPH, or is that just the Skyline Drive part? So glad the other motorists didn't do further damage. Its a tight squeeze there.

Thank you for all the well wishes. You're right, the bike WILL be back on the road. It truly is minor damage to the bike. Mostly scratches and broken side lights. Like John was saying, it was a scary corner to be parked on waiting for the ambulance. Speed Limit is 45mph and we were doing about 50mph. If it wasn't for the rocks on the shoulder this wouldn't have been so bad. My dad doesn't understand exactly why he went down but he did. We did that bend earlier in the week doing 60mph so it def. was not something the bike or my dad couldn't handle.
