NOC club members are updating the service notes and restoration information. The information they have on colour changes does not fully detail when the colours changed and exactly which variant of colour ie which type of red ,blue etc . Its possible that some USA Enthusiast may have some factory lit that helps as it was the biggest market. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is what I have for my '62 build Atlas:

Some more info here:

BTW, I long ago sent the NOC my paint spec for the Atlas Cherry red color .... never seen an update in the NOC records.

Don't know if I asked this before. Anybody knows about "Flamboyant green" which could be obtained on late 650SS and Atlas?
Only seen it on mine and one in Switzerland.

For all the Flamboyant's a good source is House of Kolors and their Kandy paints.

HI Slick, The one I am looking at now is the 64 Atlas red tank, I'm inclined to agree with cherry red , later came a darker red . At this time not bothered about paint codes , more about the description used. No 2 people are going to agree on how it should look once they have had the job done. I also suspect that the different factories used different suppliers . At one time Lucas HL buckets came pre painted to Birmingham by a different paint shop. No way could the paints age the same.

The 2 main suppliers at the time to the UK automotive were Carrs Paints Ltd and ICI paint division.

well this is marvellous as I am sorting out some paint codes from1946 to 1970 and its the export colours were looking into trying to find some information on these paint codes or equivalents so any help for any member will be nice So the NOC can produce a booklet on paints and paint codes and suppliers and basic painting instructions base on experiance So guys Any help would be good

My 1968 Atlas only has 455 original miles on it due to the original owner bought the bike new in 1970 and had a minor accident on the bike and then never rode it again. For reasons unknown, the tank was either painted or replaced, so I dont know if the tank is original or not. The rest of the bike, including the tires is completely original. But under the black gas tank paint is a lovely Flamboyant green metallic that matches the very few pics I have seen on the internet. I tried to remove the black paint and primer by wet sanding it but was unsuccessful, so I had the paint professionally matched and just had it repainted. From what I have learned, the Flamboyant green metallic was a rare color for Atlas.
