Norton Manxman

It should be law that all Manxmans must be converted to 650SS spec.
All that is required is paint, a new seat cover, some high compression pistons and, most importantly, some easy to find freeflowing 650SS silencers.

The converted bike would look better and go better too!

I have to reply to this post to set some facts straight.
Anna has often said she remembers uncle Freddie bouncing her on his knee. Fred Dixon died over 67 years ago. Anna is approximately 66-67 yrs old. The dates don't match up for a child to remember things like that, casting doubt over her claim to be a relative.
She has never been a professional engineer (marine or otherwise). She was a bargee on a canal boat.
She was instrumental in forming our local Noc branch.
She has claimed that she has competed in the sidecar TT. Not true. One of our regular branch attendees went through all the TT programs that covered the years that she claimed to have raced there. (the programs list all the TT competitors for the events) Her name never appeared.
She was responsible for the branch having to move venues because of things she did/or said that upset the landlords.
When she does attend branch meetings, quite often the chairman has to ask her to be quiet as she talks over the person who has the 'chair'
She has been reprimanded by our committee in the past for organizing events in the Noc name without asking the branch first.
The vast majority of Norton owners around the world have never met her. Those that have, know what she is like.
When the chairman has had to ask her to be quiet, she then accuses him of a hate crime and threatens legal action.
All the above is fact.
I very much doubt, Norton Bob, that you have actually met her and that you are just repeating what she has told you. For you to say she 'was a very competent professional engineer' is just a load of cobblers. That is a myth that gets perpetuated on websites such as this. The danger is that someone believes what she says and then spends money buying/doing whatever and all goes horribly wrong.
After reading just some of her comments on noc I realised what she was like and how incompetent she was and how abusive
I found it strange that they let her go on for as long as they did before banning her
She loves trying to belittle people if she can but when anyone pushes back it's poor poor me classic egotistical narcissistic tendencies

Before Anna was banned from the NOC website and she was still able to post comments I think a few website contributors actively encouraged her to comment on things and perpetuated the myths and lies about what she has been and done. Obviously it is still going on on this website. Unfortunately one of the perils of the modern social media.

Maybe she just gets a kick out of it
Who knows

Nonetheless, looks like a beautiful bike and a nice restoration to me.

You forgot to also change the handlebars to something less silly

My Super Rocket arrived with a similar type of " Cowhorn " Western handlebar , original equipment on the West Coast Super Rockets. Hap Alzina in Cslifornia was the importer and he knew how to style the bikes for maximum sales numbers.
I tried to like them because they were original equipment and we are supposed to respect that sort of thing.
They were godawful for cornering!
It felt like I was controlling the bike from some distant place. I suppose that is what was happening. It was amazing to me that they could lower the quality of handling so much.
I have Brit style low bars on there now. That little change has made it into a nice handling bike.

I agree on the handlebars
I love clipons/ace bars and flat bars but I rode my rocket 3 with raised clipons just a few miles 5 weeks ago and I'm still suffering
I had an x-ray last Friday
I'm seeing the doctor this Monday coming for the results
