I was watching a video about Commandos. There was a comparison of the Commando 750 with the Honda CB750. It said the Norton handled better, and was faster - however it was down on brakes. I suggest the Norton Commando might have been even faster if it had a similar gearbox to the Honda CB750, and a twin disc front brake.
I have a question about Norton forks - is it possible to buy right and left hand sliders suitable for fitting twin callipers ?
My own bike has Ceriani forks with twin Lockheed AP callipers, however the mounts are a mix of aluminium plates held together with Allen bolts. Not the sort of thing anyone should be using for racing. If I race again these days, it would only be on short circuits where I could crash fairly safely, however it would not be a good thing to do. I usually check-tighten the bolts holding the mounts together But the last time I raced, I forgot to tighten the clip on the fuel line.
With any race bike, the gearbox and front brake are often more important than the motor. A single calliper is not enough on the front. It is usually only marginally better than a drum brake. - Just slghtly less likely to lock.
