Norton factory workshop open for business

Blimey... the bike looks ‘stolen recovered’ !

Stuart is now the service mechanic and has two ramps up and running, on the ramp next to mine was a 'stolen/recovered' V4, an insurance write-off that the owner was keen to get roadworthy again!

The carbon framed superlight looked stunning but I gather looks aside, the weight savings just aren't there so it is unlikely to see the light of day.

‘Stuart’ ?
Seriously ?
Second name not Garner tho eh ?!

ref the CF frame, I was told that was only for the supercharged Ltd edition version... with a £50k price tag...!

Whilst there I dropped the hint several times that what would be good would be a streetfighter style V4, drop all the expensive CF/billet bits, fairings et al, and give us a naked at a price within reach :)

I didn't see any supercharger but I did see your flatslides on the kenny dreer bike, and without all the EU4 bolt on bits it looked super lean.... tempted to remove some of that EU4 stuff myself. I did get a compliment for my oil cooler cover, and my seat, with the suggestion that this is the sort of thing that Norton would look to be doing as an aftermarket accessory range :)

Nice to hear them talking about an accessory range. I reckon Triumph and Harley probably make more on accessories than bike sales!

And you gotta admire the strategy, especially Triumph... save £100 by fitting an absolutely pathetic excuse for a seat... then charge £300 for a ‘comfort seat’ from the accessory range. Next result, the Bloor family is up £400 !

I‘m with you on the V4 Streetfighter Mark, reckon they’re missing a trick there to be honest...

The carbon framed SL does have a super charger, I didn’t believe it myself until one of the Norton bods on the stand at the NEC (Tom?) showed me where it was. Quite neat. And very tempting. Until I saw the ‘head in the clouds’ piss take price tag !!

It's a marketing bonanza.... Didn't realise how the focus has changed these days 'til I took a sneak peek at Triumph's website after my mate had bought a new one.
Model page invited you to click on: 'The Figures' for the bike. Expecting performance numbers (I'll admit I'm still a 'wot'llitdo?' kinda guy) was surprised to see three big numbers: One: torque figure. Two: I forget but might have been Bhp/Nm... And number Three: 140 add on accessories!!! No performance figures mind, I assume they're so 'yesterday' now??

the Harley dealers here in the states are a T shirt and trinket shop that happens to sell motorcycles.

I love a muddy bike. Great post!! Happy the factory is thumping and especially happy to hear manufacturers lining up with supplies. Totally awesome.

Maybe there was a 961 there, parked at a curb, on display.

Thanks MX, Marie rang me. Had service today- windy and bit wet but bike got me there and back no trouble(150 miles)
Hope temp sensor change will cure hot start issues and they managed to bleed rear brake properly( my efforts never been fully successful)
Staff friendly given the virus and although expensive, the technicians immediately know what mods, mapping etc on bike so I feel bike in best hands.
Still a bit strange with BDO administering the factory but its all looking up . P.s. normal road in has reopened and new exit on to A50 works as well.
Would recommend.

Wow, it's been three years since your post, but it's great to hear that the Norton factory workshop is open for business again! Marie from the factory gave you a follow-up call and shared that service slots are available from next week, along with active parts inquiries. It's awesome to know that they're getting things rolling again after all this time.
