It seems Ngk's latest offering is called "RUTHENIUM". I can't find a cross over number from the standard BP7ES or if it is a resistor or non resistor or if it is compatible with Norton motors at all. Any info?

Also, I had a 5k ohm ngk spark plug cap come apart the other day (only one ever). The brass pin that screws into the spark plug wire came out with the wire. Next to fall out was a 5k ohm resistor about 1/2" long. Therefore...it would be easy, at the factory, to substitute a length of metal to produce a NON-RESISTOR spark plug cap which would be friendlier to our old machines. I know Tri Spark says to keep the resistance to 5k ohm for their ignitions. This would also work with magnetos.
I think modifying the plug cap is only possible at the factory.

5000 Ohm resistor plugs. 94200 FR7BHX-S has the right 3/4" reach and 7 heat range. Uses a 5/8" wrench though. There are probably well over 100 plugs that will work in a Norton engine if the 13/16" wrench size is not the criteria for choice.

Wasn't there a recent thread with viddy of how to remove resistor from some brand of plug? Was it NGK?

EDIT:
Found it here:

Champion in viddy. Anyone try on NGK?

Was your plug cap a Champion? I have recently broken 2 in the same place, leaving the end that clips to the plug on the end and broken off internally. I have some spares to use for now. If it happens again I’ll see how I get on with 5kohm NGK caps. This time I’ve smeared some silicone grease on the piece that goes on the plug to see if it helps at all.
