NEW NORTON ATLAS MOTORCYCLE

Cool photo. Curious...what is the seat height? Looks a bit high for my 31" inseam. I can't do the Beemer GS nor the Duc Multistrada.

Depends on how hard and high you set the rear suspension, I once had a tarmac racing
bike that had a very soft Moto X damper, which squashed down once I planted my bum on the seat.

It's certainly growing on me. If we can get more support from the dealerships in the US and they sell well, I'd consider it. Not going to be one of those "first boatload" guys again. There was definitely something very cool about that, (1 of 10 in the US)but it had its drawbacks.

I definitely want a Atlas Nomad.
But then Again I also kinda want a Triumph Speed Twin or Indian FTR1200S

Has anybody ridden a Norton Atlas yet ? Any tests or reviews ? It looks like Teasdale's is starting to sell them but yet no riding , test or reviews ?

I think Teasdale are just taking orders Tony, no ride reviews yet that I’m aware of.

No factory in which to build them yet either.

Has anybody seen one complete ? I mean with 12,000rpm tach etc.. Not the leftovers from the 961 parts bins . They are even using the Talon spoked hub of the 961 which is a disappointment to me . I wanted to see a move toward a better cush drive. It could be that with the smaller/lighter impulses from the 650cc engine , this cush drive may work better. Do you remember Norton saying they were going to come out with an improved rear wheel cush drive ? All I am asking for is a rear wheel cush drive rubber that last as long as one chain and sprocket set ! I've replaced mine 3 times in 11,400 miles !

Same with my cush drive rubbers, no more problems since I drive the carbon wheels. They came with rubbers with a metal ring on the inside...

Yes it does read well. In what way were you surprised by the number of 3 stars, were you expecting more or less?

As I mentioned in my earlier post about this test, the surprises for me were:

1) That the bikes tested were still pre production prototypes... nearly a year after they were first shown.
and
2) Despite having had nearly a year since the ‘launch’ to perfect fuelling on these bikes, they gave them to the press for the first ever test with fueling issues.

Why would they do this? Either they just couldn’t get it right despite trying their hardest for a year, or they just didn’t bother to ensure they were right despite the importance of the event. I’m not sure which is worse. But either way, it’s not exactly confidence inspiring for paying punters.

The review was not very awe inspiring . It could very well be a better performer than the 961 and a 961 vs 650 would be cool to see . I may never find out at this rate , I hope the best for them anyway .

Why are they still using the 8000 rpm tach ? I thought for sure by now they would have a 11 or 12 K ? Is it possible they are just waiting for new faces and they have these calibrated for the correct 12,000 rpm range ?

If the Norton 650 is light enough with 75hp at the rear wheel , could it out perform the 961 ?

These bikes MUST be a successful or the company could be in trouble I guess. SG and his team have done amazingly well but I wonder whether Triumph taking a stake would be a good/great idea
