The only 'innards' to be concerned about are main jets and needle jets and maybe float valves and metering needles. If you feel these parts are good I'd not worry about them and get the sleeve job. Lund sleeved my carbs around 25 yrs ago and I've not had an issue since. Slide fit is still like the day I got them.
