Hate to hear this. I'm so happy AN switched to UPS - all my shipping headaches are gone - none of this crap. All my UK parts suppliers now use UPS or Rayal Mail and I've never had a problem. With DHL there was a problem at least 50% of the time and the shipping was much higher

There are NO import taxes or duties from the UK to the US on vintage motorcycle parts - dispute it with UPS. It's possible AN did not include the code: 8714.10.0050 or 8714.10.0090 or a written description that means the same thing, or it is simply a UPS human error.

There is the possibility for a TSA fee if they open the package to inspect but that it is not Tax or Duty and is not chargeable if they don't open and inspect the package - love from congress!

That's a real possibility - just looked again and it says "Hi robert," At a minimum it should be "Hi Robert," but even that is WAY too familiar for a corporation to a customer!
 
The question you have to consider
Why do we get scam courier emails after ordering products through legit retailers?
Do they have a secure website/kart or for that matter does the couriers ?

There are no sales taxes in the State of New Hampshire.
I've been ordering parts shipped here for 40 years. Never seen this bogus money grab before.

It's not just couriers.

Last Friday I had a Thyroid sonogram. Yesterday, I got the results (no problem). This morning I have five emails with Thyroid in the title - three trying to sell snake oil and two trying to steal info.

There are four places that knew I had it. The place that did it, their website, my doctor, her website. One to four of them is selling info or one or both of the two web sites is hacked.

I get about 100 emails a day related to various health issues and I get lots of DHL and UPS scam emails.
 
UPS is a pirate organization.

My take is, UPS sales rep sells price point to the shipper, then illegally money grabs.
Driver couldn't take cash. Because they treat their employees like criminals.
No credit card.
Check only. For MORE than the original shipping cost I chose & agreed to.
No receipt available. I asked.
No accountability at all what the fees were for.
Still don't know.
 
In the UK, I would refer this to 'Trading Standards', a body with statutory powers to investigate and prosecute traders, where there is wrong-doing. Anything similar in the US?

It was greedy Progressive Insurance that hired a sleazy third party to run the call center, who hired filthy cockroaches who turned around and SOLD their company issued login credentials, to the bad guys

Refer all you want, but sadly, Trading Standards departments have been so stripped of staff and funds that they can't actually do anything!
 
For shits and giggles I ordered 6 oil filters from Andover. Chose the cheapest shipping rate and got the filters today, 5 days after ordering them! $29 shipping!
 
First time with UPS from Andover, ordered on 9th, arrived here in NZ 16th - a day earlier than they had forecast.
Only criticism is that a couple of hours after the parcel arrived i received an email reminder that my parcel would be arriving tomorrow.
