Molnar flywheel for the Mk3 - anyone interested?

I presume that anyone who would replace their flywheel would be road racing. I cannot think of a reason to do it with a road bike.

If you had read this thread carefully rather than waffle about (gently speaking), you might have discovered there are at least 3 good reasons, even with a road bike.

Unfortunately Amals don't give that option. And the needle jets are only two...106 and 107.
Actually, AMAL currently has these needle jets available for 4-stroke MK1 Concentric carbs:
622/122-105
622/122-106
622/122-1065 (half way between 106 and 107)
622/122-107
622/122-108
622/122-109
622/122-110
622/122-111
622/122-112
622/122-113
622/122-115

For very little money you could have a Norton 1065 which is bigger than Nigel's 1007.
It would only be the needle jets, but still would be impressive with a matching Norton 1065 decals on the sidecovers.

If you lower the needles in the carbs one notch, you should be able to induce a miss in the motor when you ride the bike - then raise them one notch. If you lower them in a 0.107 needle jet, you might not get the miss. There are 5 (?) notches on the needles. If the half thou difference with a 0.1065 needle jet is critical, each notch relates to an adjustment of 0.0001 inch in jet internal diameter. That amount of adjustment is significant when using methanol. When using petrol, it is twice as significant.
I suggest it would not be normal to jet a road bike carb that close. The changes in the weather would have too much affect.
My bike is always on methanol, even the taper on the needles has a noticeable effect and that surprised me. With petrol, getting best performance would be almost impossible.
When I was young, I also believed the bullshit about running methanol rich, and the carburation on my road bike meant nothing to me as long as my motor started and ran without missing.

Gents,
I have to steer discussions back on track.

Great news! In the new year, MPL will instigate a new project - a flywheel specifically made for the Mk3 crankshaft. All of you restoring or rebuilding one should consider buying a sample. It promises benefits over the stock item.
Gents,

Flywheels specific for the Mk3 are now available from MPL/TGA. Please place your order with them.

I am holding a few samples for Nordic buyers. Send me a PM if interested.
